1. Grab some peppermint. This tip could easily be written off as crazy if it wasn’t backed up by a university study. A group of participants were asked to sniff the scent of peppermint throughout the day and what they found was that they were easily able to move away from their desire to eat craved foods. It was so effective in fact that participants ate 2,800 calories less during the week.

2. Take a 15 minute hike. A study performed at a different university showed another approach to cutting cravings. In the study participants where tempted with their favorite treat and then sent on a walk. They found that it took 15 minutes of activity for them to “forget” the craved food.

3. Make the tempting food smaller and darker. This is a mind trick that you can use to make the food less desirable. If you have ever noticed the picture you create in your mind of a craved food you will notice that it is typically bright and prominent. By taking that picture and with your mind making it smaller and darker you will find that the food is less appealing. Give this a try, you will be surprised at how well it works.
